LIFE
There will be passion!
For it has been so proclaimed
Scrawled and scratched
In scarlet letters of blood and dirt;
There will be screaming, and madness,
and doors slamming --
There will be wind,
Howling and tearing through groaning trees
For we have announced it so:
Let the wild rumpus begin!
Let there be light, and darkness
And magic, and crazy fireflies,
Let there be dolphins,
and terrible noises
and rats in rafters
and flowers in pavement cracks
and crazy, hair-rending weeping at 4 in the morning --
Let there be wine, and laughter, and romance,
and fields of lavender and blueberries
and meadows, and echoes ---
Let there be many rainbows
and rain on grassy fields,
Artichokes and Edelweiss
Love-letters and eviction notices
Let there be slums and drums and dirt
and Beauty, and noise --
Wherever we look, whatever we do,
Let there be Life,
And let it be hard, and wild, and true.
